As the Founder & Chairman of SCL- India, it is with great pleasure and pride that I invite you as our delegates to our biennial international conference on Construction Law and Construction Arbitration, slated to be held in New Delhi for December 8-10, 2023.
After witnessing great successes in our previous iterations of the conference, this time we intend to make the conference even bigger and better. This 4th edition of SCL India’s Biennial International Conference aims to bring who's who from the field of Construction Law and Construction Arbitration along with with key stakeholders and luminaries from related disciplines across the globe to reshape construction dispute resolution ecosystem.

Event Speakers
Justice Philip Jeyaretnam (Singapore)
Justice Philip Jeyaretnam is the President of the Singapore International Commercial Court. He was appointed as Judicial Commissioner of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2021 and a judge in the High Court of Singapore in the same year. In June 2022.
Alexander Nissen KC (UK)
Alexander Nissen was called to the Bar in 1985, became a Queen’s Counsel in 2006 and was appointed Head of Chambers in 2020. He specialises in advocacy and advisory work, adjudication, arbitration, litigation and the mediation of construction, engineering, energy and professional negligence disputes.
Sarah Williams (UK)
Sarah Williams is a barrister at Keating Chambers, London, specialising in construction, engineering, and energy disputes. She appears regularly in the Courts of England and Wales, in international arbitrations, and in UK adjudications.
I am really giving my special thanks to your committee, particularly Ratan Singh ji, for organising this seminar, this subject is really touching to my heart and you have given me an opportunity today. I will be really happy if you give your solutions, suggestions to me, to the government, 100 percent we will try to implement that. Giving me the opportunity to express my thought on this subject-for the last 7 years, I was really wanted to tell something from my experience to people like you, I am very much thankful.

Construction sector in India accounts for about 9 percent of its GDP and has been a major recipient of the FDI and is projected to make India third largest construction globally by 2025. SCL’s efforts in promoting research and dedication in the field of construction law and collaborating between expert lawyers, professors, engineers and arbitrators and all other stakeholders of the construction industry are truly commendable and highly significant.

I would first warmly welcome the decision to establish the Society for Construction Law in India, there can be no doubt that India is one of the world’s major consumers for construction. India also has a highly developed legal system and so bringing these two together is logical and timely... SCL India has undoubtedly taken afoot to establish the links with the construction law societies in other countries especially the UK, Singapore, Australia and elsewhere.
